IDP Puts Car Dealer Staff And AI Agents In One Workspace

ID Privacy AI, a Florida maker of AI agents for car dealers, has launched a platform where dealership staff and agents share customer records and tasks in one place.

Car dealership staff and AI agents can now work from the same customer records and task list on a new platform from ID Privacy AI (IDP). The company is based in Cape Coral, Florida, in the United States, and calls the product an Agent-Native System of Action.

The platform sits on top of the software dealers already use. That includes customer relationship management (CRM) tools, dealer management systems that hold sales and service records, and scheduling tools. Staff work with the agents through a shared app, MyIDP.app, where they can review conversations, take over unusual cases and give the agents instructions.

Albert Thompson, IDP’s founder and chief executive, said “the future isn’t humans versus AI”. He described car retail as the market where IDP is building and proving its model. The company says it is also exploring uses in retail, hospitality and home services, and that the platform can work with compatible agents from other companies.

Agents Inside Dealer Systems

IDP’s agents talk to customers by phone, text, email and web chat. Dealers set up and manage the agents in a tool called Agent Studio, which also sets the business rules the agents follow and when they hand a conversation to a person. IDP says its software works out what a customer wants and splits multi-step jobs between agents and staff.

The company says its own system, the Universal Agent Protocol, turns business goals into actions inside connected software, such as booking a service appointment in a scheduling tool. IDP adds that the protocol checks permissions, deals with cases that fall outside the normal flow and confirms that each action worked.

A feature IDP calls the Context Graph links each customer’s identity, vehicles, website activity, past conversations and dealership events into one record that keeps updating. IDP announced the Context Graph in April 2026.

Staff can also shape the agents’ work inside MyIDP.app. The Teach feature guides an agent, Tell directs it to take a specific action and Blasts sends planned messages to customers.

Results At Dealerships

Tim Dahle and Red Rock Auto Group, which runs dealerships in Utah and Colorado in the United States, says 12% of its leads now become booked appointments with IDP. That compares with about 6% through its own business development centre (BDC), the in-house team a dealership uses to follow up leads and book appointments. IDP notes that these figures come from the customer and have not been independently verified.

“The difference with IDP has been incredible,” said Josh Worthington, vice-president of operations at the group.

IDP says its technology has supported more than 130,000 booked appointments at car dealerships. The company also says it has worked within certification programmes run by carmakers Nissan, INFINITI and Mitsubishi, and its website features Bell Mitsubishi, a dealership in Rahway, New Jersey, as a customer.

Paul Sansone Jr, founder of Sansone Jr Auto Group, gave other dealers a warning about the pace of change. He said dealerships that combine strong people with strong technology will gain a significant advantage over the next several years.

The new platform builds on earlier products. In August 2025 IDP upgraded BDC Pro, an AI tool that handles sales leads and service bookings mainly by phone. At the time, IDP said BDC Pro connected with more than 80% of the leading dealership CRM and management systems.

Other Dealer AI Tools

Other startups are selling AI agents to car dealers too. Toma came out of the Y Combinator startup programme and has raised $17M in total, with US venture firm Andreessen Horowitz leading its Series A. Its voice agents answer dealership calls, book service appointments and handle parts orders. Outside car retail, Hong Kong-based Omnichat raised $10M for AI agents that sell to shoppers over chat apps.

IDP’s pitch to dealers is one customer record and one task list, shared by staff and AI agents and built on the systems they already have. Car retail is the company’s main market for now, while other industries remain at the exploring stage.
