Hong Kong startup Omnichat has raised a $10M Series A for its artificial intelligence (AI) agents that sell to shoppers on WhatsApp, LINE, WeChat and other chat apps. Openspace Capital, a Singapore investment firm, led the round.
Openspace was the first institutional investor in Gojek, the Indonesian ride-hailing and payments app now part of GoTo, and has spent years backing technology companies across Southeast Asia. The firm was known as Openspace Ventures until last year, when the name changed to Openspace Capital as public markets and private credit funds joined its early-stage and growth investing.
Darwin Ventures and Acorn Pacific Ventures also joined the round. Omnichat plans to put the money into its AI agent platform, research and development, and growth beyond Asia-Pacific, where the company does business today. Omnichat has not disclosed its valuation or total funding.
Founder and chief executive Alan Chan sees the round as a turning point. “This Series A marks an important step as we transition from conversational commerce to AI-driven commerce,” he said.
Conversational commerce is selling through messaging, where a shopper asks a brand questions and buys in the same chat. Omnichat built its business on that model and now wants AI agents to carry more of the work.
Agents Inside The Chat
Omnichat launched its Omni AI Agents this year, building on an agent studio introduced in 2025. The marketing agent builds customer segments and whole campaigns from a single prompt. The sales agent recommends products and completes orders inside the chat, while the customer service agent answers questions around the clock.
A fourth tool, OmniClaw, works as an AI business analyst. OmniClaw follows customer behaviour and chat trends in real time and shows which stores sales came from. According to Omnichat, about 300 brands took up the tool within two months of its June launch, and the number of brands using the marketing agent tripled over the same period.
Chan said “traditional customer messaging tools still need heavy human intervention to drive sales”. Shared-inbox tools, for example, simply gather chats in one place. Omnichat says its platform goes further, tying marketing, sales and service to a single customer profile and tracing sales back to conversations, even when the purchase happens in a physical shop.
The agents run on WhatsApp, LINE, Facebook Messenger, Instagram, WeChat, KakaoTalk and TikTok. Omnichat is a WhatsApp Business Solution Provider, approved to connect companies to WhatsApp’s business messaging tools, as well as a Meta Business Partner and a technology partner of LINE, the messaging app popular in Japan, Taiwan and Thailand.
Brands Using The Platform
Omnichat says more than 5,000 brands use the platform. Named clients include Dyson, FILA, Watsons, L’OCCITANE, VF Corporation, SMCP and Mead Johnson, spanning home appliances and sportswear through to fashion, beauty retail and baby nutrition.
The company also says clients have generated more than $100M in revenue with Omnichat’s help, though the figure has not been broken down by year or market, or independently verified.
From A Shared Desk To Four Offices
Chan founded Omnichat in Hong Kong in 2017, starting from a shared workspace. The first product drew hundreds of online shops, and retail brands in Taiwan then came on board. In 2020 AppWorks, a Taiwanese startup investor, put in $0.8M to fund a move into Southeast Asia.
A $1.8M pre-Series A round came next. Raised in 2021 and announced in April 2022, the money was aimed at Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. Omnichat now has offices in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia, with AppWorks, 91APP, Palm Drive Capital, Cornerstone Ventures and AVA Angels among earlier backers.
In February 2025 Omnichat said revenue had grown eightfold over three years and annual recurring revenue, the yearly value of its subscriptions, had passed $10M. The company was then planning a Series A+ round of about $10M and moves into Japan, South Korea and Australia.
Omnichat Looks Beyond Asia
Omnichat now has fresh backing from Openspace Capital, Darwin Ventures and Acorn Pacific Ventures, and a set of agents built to handle marketing, sales and customer service inside the chat apps shoppers already use. The next step is taking the platform beyond Asia-Pacific, where the business was built.
The adoption, revenue and client figures all come from the company. Omnichat has not yet said which countries come first, or how much the company has raised since 2017.
For now, the business rests on brands selling through messaging apps across Asia. Chan’s aim is for AI agents to take more of that selling off staff, from a shopper’s first question through to the sale.
