League One Football Club Oxford United lands a sponsorship deal with Pub Talk, the chat show where sports legends and rising stars share their mental health stories. Pub Talk is produced by Mola, an entertainment company creating and hosting content across the sports, music, and film industries.
Pub Talk is now Oxford United’s official ‘back of shorts’ uniform sponsor for the club’s 2022/23 and 2023/24 seasons. The podcast follows a series of talks with a wide variety of guests in sports and entertainment to speak on issues regarding mental health. Recent episodes include appearances from sports legends including Tyson Fury, Paul Merson, and Lianne Sanderson. Pub Talk recently introduced media psychologist Charlotte Armitage to provide professional insight into topics guests have dealt with while offering potential solutions to listeners facing similar challenges.
Statistics from Mind suggest that treating mental health is an ongoing pandemic, especially for Gen Z. In England alone, up to 25 percent of the total population faces mental health issues and illnesses. Through the sponsorship, the club is showing its support for athletes everywhere to take care of their mental health and wellness when in a high-stress competitive environment.
Aside from being featured in the team’s uniform package, Pub Talk plans to hold a Mental Health Awareness Day during its joint campaign.
