ADT and Google announced today that they are entering into a long term partnership to create a security system for private homes and small businesses. Google’s award-winning hardware system Nest and ADT’s professional home-security network are going to work together. They aim to build an integrated smart home experience for customers across the USA.
The tie-up is expected to advance home security, offer smart home services, premium technology, and trusted security.
Google is planning to invest $450mn into ADT, effectively owning 6.6% of the company and issuing a step, ensuring trust. After this, the duo will commit $150mn each into product development and promotion. This investment will also be used for co-marketing, product development, technology upgrades, and employee training to advance the partnership.
ADT even plans to offer its customers Google devices by 2021, to make the transition seamless. ADT+Google has a strong vision to create home security solutions that prioritize privacy for higher customer satisfaction.
“We’re excited to partner with ADT to further our mission of building helpful devices for the home,” said Rishi Chandra, GM and Vice President of Nest. “ADT is a leader in smart home security, and I look forward to working with the team to create innovative smart home security solutions that help everyone feel safe and protected.”
