A significant number of people noticed the worldwide falling out of prominent Google services on August 20, 2020. People faced problems while accessing their Gmail accounts, or during file uploads on Google Drive.
However, the slump has not affected all of Google’s users. The company’s G suite status dashboard reported that Google is presently trying to fix the issues in their servers, with an update saying, “Our team is continuing to investigate this issue. We will provide an update by 8/20/20, 1:51 PM (IST), with more information about this problem. Thank you for your patience”. This was posted at the time of writing of this article. Issues were detected regarding Gmail sending, Meet recording, Creating files in Drive, CSV user upload in Admin Console, Posting message in Google Chat.
Indian National Congress Spokesperson Sanjay Jha, a senior politician, also took to Twitter to inquire about the server issue. Twitter also saw a meme response to this problem, with memes blaming 2020 for the Google issue.
Twitter user Deepanshu Malhotra (@daddydeep7), posted to the microblogging site a map of service outages. This included the information that 62% of the issues were regarding e-mail attachments, while 21% of issues were about logins.

At Morning Tick, we faced this issue when we were trying to share and access Google Docs using Drive links. The pop-up box constantly mentioned an “internal error”, which was considered too vague to troubleshoot. However, our reporters have stopped facing issues on Google Drive now.
As of 2 PM (IST), some Indian issues have been resolved, while others still continue to face service outages.
