Following the launch of Pixel 4a on August 3, Google is all set for the fall-launch of Pixel 5. The newest member in the Pixel family appeared on the AI Benchmark website, which allowed us to glance at the specs it might feature.
The website listed Pixel 5 after Pixel 4 and Pixel 4XL, and mentioned important specifications like the Snapdragon 765G processor, and 8GB RAM. The website also informed us that it would be launched with Android 11 OS. Pixel 5 got a score of 39.4, which is almost equal to that of Pixel 4 (39.6), and Pixel 4XL (39.5). Both renditions of Pixel 4 used a Snapdragon 855 processor. AI Benchmark also pointed out that since Pixel 5 has not been launched yet, it might be using unofficial or prototype hardware or drivers in the benchmark test.
The Snapdragon 765G processor suggests that Pixel 5 will be a 5G handset. This is the same chipset observed in OnePlus Nord, a mid-range offering from OnePlus. Hence, it can be speculated that Google might market this smartphone as an affordable-yet-premium model. Rumors about Google’s smartphones have suggested that Pixel 5 XL will not be launched this year.
Google’s Pixel 4a and Pixel 5, both reportedly 5G handsets, are speculated to be launched in October this year. However, they will not be launched in India. A 4G version of Pixel 4a may be launched in India sometime soon.
