Didi Chuxing gives a fresh look to its carpooling service

The Chinese transportation company Didi Chuxing gave a new look to its carpooling service by rebranding it as Qingcai Pinche (meaning Green Vegetable Carpooling).

Chinese news website Sina reported on Monday that the company had invited Chinese celebrities Zhu Zhenting and Huang Minghao as its brand ambassadors.

The rebranding of the service as green vegetable highlights the product positioning and its benefits to the public said Didi Carhailing Platform Company CEO Chen Xi. The company hopes that the move will encourage more users to use online car-hailing seats and national level prices which will eventually make the urban traffic smooth and eco-friendly.

In the first-ever safety report on its carpooling service released in July, Didi stated that over 317,792 prospective drivers failed to pass the service’s upgrade procedure. This included a check on the applicants’ documents to spot any criminal history.

Added features of Green Vegetable Carpooling

Users can log in to the Didi passenger app to avail of the new brand benefits of the carpooling service like a 1% discount coupon for carpooling and other cash prizes. Based on its existing services Didi is focussing its attention on three core user principles for a greener experience – low price, punctuality, and safety. It hopes to achieve the three principles by continuously improving big data and artificial intelligence algorithms and also by optimizing map path planning capabilities.

To ensure the timeliness of the service, the company has introduced “on-time guarantee” delay protection. It has added reminders of estimated arrival time in the entire process of carpooling. If the actual time of the arrival is later than the estimated time, passengers will receive a deduction in their fare by a standard of 1 yuan every 3 minutes, up to 15 yuan.

Plan to launch $80b worth IPO

According to a report by Science and Technology Board Daily, the Chinese ride-hailing firm is planning negotiations with investment banks to make an initial public offering (IPO) in Hong Kong worth a valuation of US billion. This is expected to become one of the largest IPO transactions in the Hong Kong market in recent years.
