TikTok’s success has been quite high and a little unexpected since the past years. They have got millions of users worldwide with Indians contributing a major share ( but the app is being banned in India due to controversies). Therefore it is no surprise that other social media apps will be competing to mimic certain features of the China based App. Youtube has announced that they will be incorporating certain new features to the app where the users will be able to upload a short 15 seconds video segment through their smartphones.

YouTube said that “We’re testing out a new way for creators to easily record multiple clips directly in the YouTube mobile app and upload as one video. If you’re in this experiment, you’ll see an option to ‘create a video’ in the mobile upload flow.”

Although the videos are capped at 15 seconds, you will be able to record longer ones which will be broken down to parts that are 15 seconds long.

This feature might be a challenge to Instagram and Snapchat as well as it matches their video upload features. Nothing has been said about camera filters on YouTube but we can guess that YouTube will not skip that idea during these new add-ons. YouTube already has a huge customer base, but the video upload is not as handy as other Apps and now the company is keeping up with that shortcoming.

This might give YouTube added advantages in their revenue but they certainly are not aiming for the same users as that of Tiktok. Therefore one cannot be sure about the advantages that will be brought by the new features.
