PlayStation 5 gaming console and PS5 game titles announced

The PS5 presentation was broadcasted in the early morning of June 12th, Japan time. PS5 design and 28 game titles have been revealed. The majority of the 28 game titles will be sold exclusively on PS5.

The PS5 will be released at the end of the year as originally planned, and will be around the same time as rival Xbox SeriesX. The price is undecided, but it is almost certain that it will exceed 50,000 yen including tax.

The appearance is likely to be a relatively slim design as it is in the Youtube video below. It seems that there will be a standard version with ultra HD Blu-ray drive and a Digital Edition without it.

The PS5 GPU has a processing power of 10.28 TFLOPS/2.23 GHz and an SSD of 825GB. Compared to the PS4, the specs are significantly higher, but they are slightly inferior to the Xbox SeriesX, which will be released around the same time.

However, the PS5 and Xbox SeriesX have completely different game software, so many users will look at the game title to determine which game console to buy, not the hardware specs.

The list of 28 PS5 Games titles is as follows:

  • Astro’s Playroom
  • Demon’s Soul
  • Destruction All Stars
  • Gran Turismo 7
  • Horizon Forbidden West
  • Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales
  • Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
  • Return
  • Sackboy A Big Adventure
  • Bugsnax
  • Deathloop
  • Ghostwire
  • Godfall™
  • Goodbye Volcano High
  • Grand Theft Auto V, GTA Online
  • Hitman 3
  • JETT : The Far Shore
  • Kena: Bridge of the Spirits
  • Little Devil Inside
  • NBA 2K21
  • Oddworld Soulstorm
  • Pragmata
  • Project Athia (tentative name)
  • Resident Evil 8
  • Solar Ash
  • Stray
  • Tribes of Midgard
  • The Pathless

We don’t think all 28 titles will be released at the end of this year, but it’s a fun lineup. With the spread of 5G, Google’s hardware advantage over cloud game services such as STADIA will fade. I think Sony’s strategy of exclusively enclosing a lot of game titles is correct.
