A new Xiaomi smart speaker patent has appeared on the website of China’s State Intellectual Property Office (CNIPA), which shows that the smart speaker has a cylindrical design that looks very similar to Apple’s HomePod.
As reported, the patent suggests that Xiaomi’s smart speaker has a circular disc-shaped surface on its upper surface that may provide two functions: a miniature OLED display panel that displays the connection status, volume, media playback, and other such information.
Second, the surface that supports touch can provide touch-based or gesture-based controls such as volume, playback, media selection, etc. However, only one of these features may be available.
The patented Xiaomi smart speaker also appears to have a 3.5mm headphone socket and it is not a common feature for smart speaker buyers. Since entering the smartphone business, Xiaomi has built a rapidly evolving smart home ecosystem that is said to fit perfectly.
