It is reported that Amazon has added a new voice button to its shopping app in India. This new voice button is powered by virtual assistant Alexa. As per reports, this new feature will allow users to use voice commands to perform various tasks. Some of the tasks are searching, reordering, order tracking, and the ability to add a product to your shopping cart.
The feature that adds a product to your shopping cart has been named Speak to Shop. Here, all you have to do is tap on the Voice button present in the top right corner of the Amazon India app beside the shopping cart and the feature will automatically request you for granting audio permissions. Now, as soon as you grant the required permissions and tap on the button, you will be able to perform voice searches powered by Alexa.
However, you should note that this feature does not support the Alexa wake word which means you will have to manually tap on the Voice button every time you want to use this feature. In other words, if you simply try to call it by saying the word “Alexa” then it won’t be triggered.
Now, let us discuss how to place an order by using voice commands. It can be done in two steps. At first, you have to add the product to the cart using the “Add (product name) to cart” command and then secondly, you have to use the “Checkout” command followed by the product name to place the order.
However, note that if you place an order in this way then by default “Cash on Delivery” will be chosen. Moreover, voice commands are limited to English at this moment. Amazon integrated this feature for both its Prime and non-Prime customers. As of now, it is not available in the iOS platform.
