WhatsApp expected to bring Dark Theme for Web and Desktop simultaneously
WhatsApp expected to bring Dark Theme for Web and Desktop simultaneously

Last month, it was reported that WhatsApp had added the much-awaited dark mode feature in beta for Android devices. As usual, the Apple users got it a little bit late. The dark mode reached Apple devices only last week. Now, reports suggest that the company is focusing on bringing the dark theme on WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp Desktop as well.

WhatsApp Desktop modder Mahesh B Wijerathna (@m4heshd) was the first one to spot early signs of the feature. He spotted it on v0.4.930.Now, WABetaInfo has given us an early glimpse at the dark theme on the web and desktop. As far as the looks are concerned, the implementation resembles the design we are familiar with on the mobile version of Whatsapp.

This means, as usual, it will come in a combination of the same greenish accents and dark grey headers. Reports suggest that theme implementation is not yet completed and the work is in progress. This more or less explains why the background color of the emojis is not transparent.

So far, neither Facebook nor Whatsapp has revealed anything about it. WhatsApp has not even given an official availability timeline of this dark theme feature on WhatsApp Web and Desktop apps.

Experts are considering that eventually, dark mode will come but it might not come right away. Considering that WhatsApp is yet to roll out the dark theme to its stable versions on both Android and iOS, the company might bring the dark theme to the stable builds on all platforms simultaneously.

Once again, you should remember that these are expectations from experts and Whatsapp itself will take the final call. It seems that right now we have no other choice left with us than to wait for the dark theme on WhatsApp Desktop.
