The Indian cab hailing service provider company, Ola is all set to start their services in the royal capital, London from February 10, 2020. They made the official announcement on a press release on Friday. With over 20,000 drivers already registered, the company says that they will be fully operational from day one. The company had announced that they will start its operations in London last November when they received the license to operate in the city for 15 months.
Ola has announced its plans for its employees or drivers where they said that they will maintain differentiated focus on the safety and drivers and at the same time maintaining a collaborative approach through its launch in London and beyond. The company said they will let their drivers keep a large part of their revenue by offering the best revenue share.
The company said that “the drivers joining the platform will benefit from 6 weeks of zero commission and market-leading commission rates thereafter”.
Ola has been operating in the United Kingdom since 2018 but they got the license to carry out their business in London only in 2019. their main rival in the UK is Uber and luckily for them, Uber lost their license to ride in London following the declaration by Transport of London (local transport regulator) that they are unfit for operating in the city.
Uber had failed to follow safety regulations in the city. The Transport for London (TFL) said that public safety was the primary reason for denying a license for Uber in London.
South Wales was the first city in the UK where Ola started its operations. They then expanded to Liverpool, Bristol, and Birmingham which are the prominent cities. Since then, the company provided over 3 million rides with over 11,000 drivers around the country.
