According to recent reports, Google is expecting its app to allow businesses on Google train to cut competition from others. The company is reportedly working on another communications app to fit in the G Suite which will be exclusively for business users.
The Information reporter Mashable reported that the app is said to combine the functionality of several existing Google apps like Gmail, Drive, Hangouts Meet, and Hangouts Chat.
As far as the functional ability is concerned, this app is likely positioned against business-oriented communication solutions like Slack and Microsoft Teams. The new app is going to be bundled together with other Google chat apps.
Mashable wrote, “Google is reportedly working hard to woo Fortune 500 companies to switch to its suite of products, and a bundled product like this should be easier to manage within a large corporation.”
It should be noted that as far as chat apps are concerned, Google hasn’t had the best of luck. Google had to switch from Google Chat to Hangouts, Allo, Duo, Chat, Messages, Hangouts Meet, Google Voice, and many more yet we can say that none sustained the competition.
We have to wait and see if it can be any match to what Facebook is offering with its Whatsapp and what Microsoft is offering with its Slack and Microsoft Teams.
