Just a few days ago it was reported that Facebook is working on a new feature for Facebook Messenger that would add Face ID lock to your Facebook Messenger app. This was first discovered by Jane Wong.
Jane Wong speculated that the feature will eventually default to the built-in biometric technology on your phone. It means though Facebook will scan your face it will not get a daily shot of your face.
Alexandru Voica, Facebook’s tech communication manager confirmed that Facebook is going to use biometric security of your device offers. It seems that tacitly the company confirmed that ultimately we will get the feature.
With this biometric lock feature, you will be able to hide your Facebook content from friends, family, and others who might snoop on to your messages as they are the most likely to pick your phone when you are absent.

It can be enabled right after the user leave Messenger or after a duration
It seems Face ID will NOT be sent to, or stored by Facebook’s servers, according to the description shown in the screenshot pic.twitter.com/pqBQAjOrnd

The above-mentioned Screen Lock will automatically lock your Facebook Messenger app until it is unlocked with the registered Face ID. However, it should be noted that though the company has hinted at a biometric scan, we have no idea when it will come finally. Currently, the screen lock is at its development and experiment process.
