Sony launches new wireless camera grip, the GP-VPT2BT

Today, Sony announced a new camera grip named GP-VPT2BT. According to the company, it can be connected with many of the company’s recent mirrorless cameras over Bluetooth. This camera grip cis tagged with a price tag of US $140. From January 2020 itself, it will be shipped in North America.

Even today, most camera grips use a wired connection. Unlike a wired connection camera grip, a Bluetooth camera grip approach prevents any cables from getting in the way and therefore leaves your camera ports not only sealed but also protected. Apart from this, this design also gives give you a little more flexibility to nail the perfect angle.

Sony stated that GP-VPT2BT camera grip is compatible with the Alpha A9 II, A9, A7R IV, A7R III, A7 III, A6600, A6400, A6100, RX100 VII, and RX0 II cameras. This camera grip will come with most of the movie mode controls that is expected from it such as a zoom rocker, a lock switch, and a customizable button. If you want you can also turn it into a tripod by extending its built-in legs.

Sony GP-VPT2BT camera grip has a “reliable dust and moisture resistant design.”. However, we have also spotted a small footnote on the company’s official website that states “not guaranteed to be 100 percent dust and moisture proof.”

Before shooting, you have to make sure that your camera and the camera grip both well charged.
