A few days back at the CES 2020 event, HP unwrapped Elite Dragonfly G2. While demonstrating the laptop, HP said that Elite Dragonfly G2 is the first-ever laptop with Tile integration. This will help to track down your laptop in case you have misplaced it.
In a press release, HP stated that “Elite Dragonfly is the world’s first laptop with built-in Tile, the world’s leading smart location company. Easily see where a misplaced or lost notebook is, or with the optional Tile Premium service, get proactive alerts when a device has been left behind.”
Tile is a location tracker equipment maker based in America. In general, their products help to track digital devices. There is a mobile app of Tile. Users have to first download it in their phone and link their laptop with the mobile app and the app will start tracking laptop movements. Users will be able to see the location of their laptop on a map if it is within Bluetooth range. However, if the laptop is not within Bluetooth range then the mobile app will display the last seen Bluetooth location.
According to Digital Trends “Tile will function even if the laptop is offline or powered off”. If this is really so, then your laptop has fewer chances of getting stolen. At least, you will be able to track it down.
Once again it should be noted that if users want to use this service then they must Download and install Tile Windows app on their handset. It is expected that HP will bring Tile integration to more laptops in the future and some other brands will follow the trend very soon.
