RedmiBook coming to India, trademark registered

Recently, on the website of Intellectual Property India, a trademark listing for the RedmiBook brand of laptops was spotted. Intellectual Property India is an agency for patents and trademarks under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of India.

It seems that Xiaomi is now looking forward to launching its laptops in the Indian market. Redmi is a sub-brand of Xiaomi. This brand is renowned for affordable price tag all over the world.

According to the report, the trademark listing of the RedmiBook laptop gives us hint that the Xiaomi RedmiBook to enter the Indian laptop market.

In 2018, Manu Kumar Jain, Xiaomi India’s head and global vice president said that the company is planning to launch gaming laptops in India. Xiaomi fans have waited more than a year for any such launch news but it never came. Now, it seems that the RedmiBook series might hit the Indian market within 2020.

Back in May 2019, Xiaomi launched RedmiBook 14, the ever Redmi branded laptop and continued with new variants till October.

RedmiBook 13, is the latest model of the RedmiBook series. It was launched alongside Redmi K30 in China. Xiaomi is expected to come up with Redmi K30 for the Indian market in early 2020. Now, analysts and insiders are considering that the Chinese tech giant might launch RedmiBook 13 with the Redmi K30 handset.

As the name suggests, RedmiBook 13 comes with a 13.3 inches full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The display offers a 178-degree viewing angle, 89 % screen to body ratio, and 250 nits brightness.

The laptop will be powered by a 10th generation Intel Core processor (i5 / i7), a 2 GB NVIDIA MX250 graphics card, and an 8 GB RAM. Other specifications include a 512 GB SSD memory, a ‘Hurricane’ cooling system with dual heat pipes and custom wing fans that ensures silent thermal dissipation.

Xiaomi has integrated a cross-platform file transfer system called Smart Connect, Mi Cloud service, and a Xiaomi Sensor Key on the laptop. This Sensor Key can recognize other Xiaomi branded products like Mi Band.

RedmiBook 13 runs in Windows 10 operating system and comes with Microsoft Office Student Edition support. Connectivity options include Harman speakers with DTS support, Bluetooth 5.0 support, NFC support, and dual-band Wi-Fi support. It has 2 USB 3.1 ports, 1 HDMI port, and a 3.55 mm audio jack.

To add up more, RedmiBook 13 will be backed up by a 40Whr battery. A 65W adaptor charges the battery and one full charge can deliver 11 hours of video playback and 8.5 hours of web browsing. Xiaomi claims that the laptop gets 50 percent charged within just 35 minutes.

Also, the 13-inch notebook equipped with Intel’s i5 chipset is clocked at 1.6 GHz and is priced RMB 4499 (INR 46000) while the i7 variant is clocked at 1.8 GHz and is priced RMB 5199 (INR 53500). Share your thoughts on RedmiBook India Launch in the comment section below!
