In recent times, we have seen that smartphone manufacturers from all over the world have come up with a variety of ways like hole punch front cameras, camera notches, and pop up mechanisms to maximize the screen area. According to recent reports, Oppo is adding another variant up its sleeve. This new variant is going to come with sideways pop-out camera design. The Chinese tech giant has filed a patent for this device in the CNIPA (China National Intellectual Property Administration) database.
The patent image reveals a motorized camera module on the right-hand side of the handset, which is roughly of the same height as the rear camera. The speaker and the USB Type C ports are located at the bottom.
Just like any other patent issued by a renowned company, we don’t have any idea whether this model will be finalized or not. Still, it is true that companies nowadays are looking forward to optimizing the thin bodies and the screens of smartphones.
Oppo’s side pop-up camera phone is going to be the first of its kind. Oppo has always tried different approaches to the front camera. AS per news, the company is also developing an in-display camera without a notch or a hole. Many manufacturers have tried fitting in front cameras at different places of the device. Still, this side pop up camera is going to be a totally new way of elevating camera technology.
The said patent reveals a motorized camera module on the right-hand side of the device which bears a single sensor. The power button is on the left, along with the volume rockers and sim slot.
Just to let you know, Asus has also experimented with rotating cameras, but they have more or less failed to deliver quality. So far, Oppo and Xiaomi devices have been successfully experimenting with under the display selfie cameras.
