On 26th November, MediaTek officially launched its first 5G single-chip Dimensity 1000. It came with an internal code MT6885. Some report claims, the cost of Dimensity 1000 5G Chip makes the consumers quite disappointed.
Experts and analysts estimated that the price of this chip is going to be something around $ 50 but due to the scarce supply of 5G chips on the market, the price of Dimensity 1000 rose straight to 70 dollars.
In addition, it was also heard that the high-frequency version of the same series MT6889 sells for as much as $70 to $80, which is much higher than the usual price of $10 to $12 for 4G chips.
Dimensity 1000 is excellent in terms of performance. In fact, MediaTek marketed that Dimensity 1000 is the world’s first 5G single chip supporting 5G dual-carrier aggregation, the world’s fastest 5G single chip, the world’s most power-efficient 5G baseband, and the world’s first support for 5G + 5G dual card dual Waiting, the world’s first 5G single chip with integrated Wi-Fi 6, the world’s strongest GNSS satellite positioning and navigation system, the world’s first Cortex-A77 quad-core-based chip, the world’s first multi-core CPU, and the world’s best GPU AI performance provider.
Apart from these huge claims made by the company, there is no other product to give it a fair competition in the market.
Earlier, Taiwan’s Business Times reported that the yield of Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7250 in Samsung 7nm EUV EUV lithography is less than 30%, which might affect the purchase intention of brand mobile phone manufacturers.
On the other hand, MediaTek is backed by TSMC’s powerful 7nm EUV extreme ultraviolet lithography technology, and mass production can be completed by the end of this year. Moreover, the production capacity will be significantly expanded in the first quarter of next year.
This is also boosting the confidence of MediaTek to tag its chip in such a manner.
