Microsoft postpones Surface Earbuds to spring 2020
Microsoft postpones Surface Earbuds to spring 2020

Last month, Microsoft introduced Surface Earbuds at a special press event alongside Surface Pro 7, Surface Laptop 3, and Surface Pro X. The other devices are already made available for sale.

We know that tech giant Microsoft had planned to launch Surface Earbuds later this year but it seems that the company is going to delay that.

In a tweet today, Panos Panay, Microsoft’s chief product officer said “Product-making is about the relentless pursuit to get all the details right, which takes time… sometimes more than we planned on.” He further explained: ”To ensure we deliver the best possible experience for you, our fans & customers, Surface Earbuds will now launch worldwide in spring 2020.”

So far Panay has not revealed the exact reason why Microsoft is postponing the launch but it is somewhat clear that testing or manufacturing did not go as planned for a December launch.

Microsoft is now planning to release the Surface Earbuds in the spring. It will come in two color options: grey and white.

Surface Earbuds are tagged with a price tag of $249. It comes with a fairly divisive design with large and circular earbuds and offers good voice performance.

The company included dictation which works with Office apps. The earbuds come with two built-in microphones that aid in noise reduction while calling. Users will be able to control music and other audio with tap and swipe gestures in touch areas.

In its October event, Microsoft revealed that they have scheduled Surface Neo and Surface Duo dual-screen devices in 2020. With the inclusion of Surface Earbuds, we know at least three Surface products that are going to come in the next year.
