Sony Mobiles has officially announced its new mid-range smartphone in Japan named Sony Xperia 8. The smartphone will be exclusively available only for Japan and no plans for the global launch. Sony Xperia 8 comes with a price tag of 54,000 Yen and will be available for sale at the end of October.
Talking about the specs, Xperia 8 sports a 6.0-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 2520×1080 pixels. The body size is 158 x 69 x 8.1mm and weighs about 170g. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The storage can be expandable up to 512GB using a microSD card.
Sony Xperia 8 adopts dual camera setup at the rear that includes 12MP primary lens and 8MP optical double lens. Sadly, the device is not coming with optical image stabilization feature. At the front, it has an 8-megapixel selfie shooter.
The device packs a 2760mAh battery and has a side fingerprint scanner. In addition, the device is Waterproof (IPX5 / IPX8), dustproof (IP6X) rated and comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack. It runs Android 9 Pie out of the box. Overall, in terms of design and specs, the Sony Xperia 8 look similar to existing Xperia 10.
As mentioned, the Xperia 8 pre-booking starts from 9th October and expected to be available for sale at the end of October at a price of 54,000 Yen that’s roughly RMB 3,611. The device comes in four color options – Black, White, Orange, and Cyan.
