Hyundai to build Flying Cars with the help of NASA aeronautics engineer

Who would have thought about flying cars 20 years back? With the advancement of technology flying cars could be the next means of transportation. A new Urban Air Mobility Division had been launched by Hyundai Motor Group. The new division will work for the development of commercial flying car technology.

Flying car technology has been talked about by companies like Uber and Color Volocopter. With Hyundai jumping into this, it seems that we will be able to see a flying car in the coming years. It is expected that the urban air mobility sector will grow at the rate of $1.5 trillion in USD market, in the next 20 years and Hyundai dwelling into this sector does not seem to be a bad step.

The air mobility division will be headed by Dr. Jaiwon Shin who is an experienced aeronautics engineer. Shin was the lead of NASA’s Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate. He has many projects to his name like the UAS traffic management, supersonic X-plane, and Urban Air Mobility. Hyundai wants to create itself ‘as a driving force in urban air mobility’.

Hyundai quoted that they will “develop core technologies and innovative solutions for safe and efficient airborne travel.”
