GoPro Hero 8 Black has been officially announced by the company. The cost of the camera is $399. The new camera has a lot of improvements in terms of image stabilization, image quality, software updates, etc in comparison with the last Hero 7 Black model. The shipping will begin from October 15 and comes with a price tag of Rs 36,500 in India.

Hero 8 Black model also has a brand new feature called “Mods” which can be used to support more accessories. It allows the user to attach a higher quality microphone, a flip-up display and LED light. It is going to be quite helpful for content creators who are often using these accessories for vlogging.

The “Media Mod” which costs $79 comprises of the built-in small, integrated shotgun microphone and has USB Type-C, HDMI and 3.5 mm ports along with two cold shoe mount for attaching accessories like Light Mod or Display Mod.

The “Display Mod” which costs $79 comprises a 1.9-inch screen that is attached to the cold shoe mount and plugs in the Media Mod. It can be flip-up to take a selfie. It has a built-in 680 mAh battery.

Another one is the waterproof “Light Mod” which costs $49. It has the “world’s most versatile light,” claims GoPro. It can be attached to the Media Mod. The Light Mod is rechargeable since it has its own battery and is capable of lightning up to 10m of water. According to GoPro, there will be more modes in the future.

The Mods will play an important role in the marketing of the product. Customers will be attracted to this feature. The Mods will convert GoPro to be a perfect vlogging setup according to the company.

Pablo Lema who leads GoPro’s product and user experience team said, “We saw people essentially hacking the experience, but they obviously wanted to use the cordevice… But the beauty of it also is that, once you take all this away, you’ve got a camera that you can dunk in the water with and go diving with. That versatility that doesn’t exist anywhere else.”
