Gogoro has launched it’s new electric scooter Gogoro VIVA. The new scooter is supposed to be operating in the same way as that of the earlier Gogoro scooters version. The design of the new product will be more versatile and smaller to suit the urban lifestyle. With the new product, in-store Gogoro is trying to expand it reaches globally.
Gogoro is a Taiwan based company and it has a good hold in the market. It occupies a 94% market share in electric mobility.
The previous version of Gogoro scooters, Gogoro 3 made use of battery swapping technology. The rider can replace the depleted batteries. There are around 1400 battery swap stations around Taiwan and 125000 battery swaps take place every day. It is being estimated that in Taipei the battery swap stations are at a distance of not more than 1 km away.
The VIVA scooters have a single battery as it is small and urban-centric. The scooter can cover a distance of 80 km in a single battery. The earlier version of Gogoro’s scooter has a speed of 80 kmph and it has two batteries. VIVA has a synchronize brake system and weighs 80 kg. It has 21 litres of storage space. The new scooter can be customized and personalized as well.
Gogoro’s Chief Executive Officer and founder Horace Luke explains how VIVA could be made personalized, “The VIVA scooter has over 100 accessories available on day one when launch, so you can get all of these bol-ton parts to make it a cargo carrier scooter if you want, or for more of a lifestyle scooter if you want.”
“Even different accessories you can put on the vehicle to make it completely different colors and different styles. So think of it in terms of the word ‘ultra’. It’s ultra lightweight, ultra easy to own, ultra affordable, ultra personalized.”
