    Apple brings ECG Support on Watch Series 4 and later models in India


    Apple rolls out the ECG feature to its Apple Watch Series 4 and later models in India. The ECG support is just a part of watchOS 6 update and finally, it started rolling out on 19th September. Apple announced about the feature last year and it claimed that the ECG feature saved a lot of lives across the globe.

    With the watchOS 6 update, users will avail the dedicated ECG App and irregular rhythm notification feature that will inform the physicians on the individuals rapid beating of heart, it is also called as Atrial Fibrillation or AFib. “With the ECG app and irregular rhythm notification feature, customer can now better understand aspect of their heart health in more meaningful ways.” said Sumbul Desai, MD, Apple’s vice president of Health.

    According to an official press release, the Apple watch users will get the ECG feature from today with an update to watchOS 6. Mentioning, “ECG app and irregular heart rhythm notification feature will help users identify signs of AFib, the most common form of irregular rhythm. When left untreated, AFib is one of the leading conditions that can result in stroke, the second most common cause of death around the world”.

    The company claims that the ECG feature will be accurate that made available after a clinical trial study of 600 participants. “The study found the ECG app on Apple Watch demonstrated 98.3 percent sensitivity in classifying AFib and 99.6 percent specificity in classifying sinus rhythm in classifiable recordings”, said the company.

    As mentioned, watchOS 6 update rolled out for Apple Watch Series 3 and Series 4. Apart from ECG other features includes Calculator, Cycle Tracking, Voice Memos, Noise, a native App Store, and some bunch of new faces such as Solar Dial, California, Gradient, and Numerals.
