Back in August, at the Global Flash Memory Summit event of 2019, Huawei talked about some self-developed SSD flash memory technology and its research and development. Huawei mentioned the upcoming technology as “Based on system innovation, creating a business-savvy SSD”. The Chinese company discussed the “SSD innovation and application around systems and services” in the event and pointed out three aspects of creating a business-savvy SSD.
The three aspects are the pursuit of the ultimate from the “disc-level” to achieve double performance, followed by achieving “system-level” through software, hardware, security, operation and maintenance, and then shifting to the “application-level” with intelligent multi-stream application awareness in order to bring ultimate user experience to customers.
In the event, Huawei displayed a handful of products to a large number of visitors, including industry people, partners, and media reporters in the Huawei exhibition area and most people were enthusiastic about the latest product dynamics and innovative technology of upcoming Huawei SSD.
Yesterday, Huawei launched the first-ever commercial-grade enterprise-class PCIe 4.0 SSD-ES3000 V6 SSD at the Huawei Connect Conference 2019. This enterprise-class SSD uses Canon 820 controller chip and supports PCIe. It comes with 4.0 interface which offers a maximum commercial capacity of 30.72 TB.
Huawei ES3000 V6 SSD supports PCIe 4.0 with random read and random write IOPS of 1.66 million and 375,000 while the sequential read and sequential write bandwidths are 7 GB/s and 5 GB/s respectively. If we consider the previous generation ES3000 V5, then with this up-gradation, performance is doubled!
The new generation SSD introduces a dual security encryption standard (AES256 confidential/SM4 national secret). The security encryption supports FIPS140-2 Level 2 and China National Secret cryptographic module level 2 certifications as well.
It is being heard that ES3000 V6 will come with a number of variants to meet different business scenarios such as high performance, low latency, or high capacity.
In addition, Huawei officially unveiled the Kupeng Server Motherboard, that comes with 128 physical cores, 32 memory slots, 100GE high-speed I / O, 56G SerDes capacity, up to 25& improved performance. The energy efficiency ratio is 15% higher than the industry, and 100% of the total machine power can be used.
