Popular music streaming platform, Spotify has announced the acquisition of SoundBetter without disclosing the terms of the deal. “We’re excited that creators can generate income through SoundBetter” said Beckwith Kloss, Spotify’s VP product, Creator at Spotify.
SoundBetter, a New York based music production online marketplace founded in 2012 just with the main motive to hire musicians, audio engineers, songwriters and producers. The company claims, SoundBetter has over 180,000 artists registers from more than 176 countries. Also, SoundBetter has paid over $19 millions to various music producers and artists with a profitable payout of $1 million every month on average.
The database includes “Kanye West’s Producer, Hoobastank’s Drummer, Jamiroquai’s Guitarist, Beyonce’s Songwriter, Joe Cocker’s Bass player, Herbie Hancock’s Engineer, Morrissey’s Guitarist, The Killers’ Mixing Engineer, George Michael’s Mastering Engineer.”
So from now on, the Spotify-SoundBetter deal will help the Spotify for Artists feature to provide more than 400,000 artists and their team. As per the Spotify, the deal will offer a gateway to connect with new collaborations and to generate additional income.
According to Shachar Gilad, Co-founder and CEO of SoundBetter, the acquisition will benefit from “Spotify’s global scale, resources, and vision to expand our network and drive more economic opportunities for artists of all levels.”
“As we build out our tools for creators, we want to give them the resources they need to thrive. SoundBetter has the same vision,” said Beckwith Kloss.
