Epic Games de-powers Fortnite B.R.U.T.E. mech suit due to complaints

A few weeks ago, with the debut of Fortnite Season X, Epic Games added a number of super-powerful B.R.U.T.E. mech suits. Back then, the company explained that the new mechs will help level up the playing field but after the introduction of the powerful mechs, the number of complaints increased. Both high level and regular players complained that these mechs are just over powerful.

Initially, Epic Games responded by limiting the appearance of those during the competitive mode of the game. After that, a new weapon was also added known as “junk rift” which could help games to fight back against them. However, the Fortnite gaming community was still not pleased with the changes made so they kept complaining.

In order to address this issue, Epic Games finally made changes across all platforms for Fortnite and depowered B.R.U.T.E. mech suites significantly. This is done by a couple of changes like by reducing how fast missiles are fired, reducing the number of missiles it can fire, reducing spawning rates and also cutting the radius of the explosions that can be caused by other weapons. Alongside this, from now on, players won’t be able to pick materials while dashing or stomping through the environment.

Fortnite from its official Twitter handle posted “We’ve made adjustments to the BRUTE in all game modes and temporarily removed the Junk Rift from Arena and Tournaments playlists. This update is rolling out to all servers now, read the full details on these changes here”.

On the other hand, Epic Games also gave a glimpse of what changes are made to eradicate the Fortnite B.R.U.T.E. mech suites in a post titled “B.R.U.T.E. balance adjustments”. Epic Games elaborated that the big changes made are:

  • The maximum number of rockets that can be fired in a single charge reduced from 10 to 6.
  • 56% reduction in the rate at which the rockets are fired.
  • 42% reduction in radius of the B.R.U.T.E.’s rocket explosion.
  • Dash cooldown raised from 3 seconds to 5 seconds.
  • Velocity gained from boosting while in the air reduced by 33%.
  • The material cost of gunner’s overshield reduced from 200 to 75.
  • The health of suite raised from 1000 to 1250.
