Yesterday, renowned tech analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo published a research note regarding Apple Watch Series 5. Kuo is expecting the wearable to get launched alongside iPhone 11 at Apple’s September 10 event.
Ming-Chi Kuo is expecting Apple Watch Series 5 to sport OLED displays supplied by Japan Display. He expects Apple Watch 5 to add a new ceramic casing design.
Kuo predicted that Japan Display will ramp up the production of OLED display technology by 15% to 20% this year and will eventually hit the target of 70% to 80% by 2021.
Alongside this, Kuo is also estimating Apple to take a similar tack when it comes to iPhones. LG is the mass supplier of OLED displays for iPhones. In the research note, Kuo predicted that Apple will look forward to stopping relying on a single manufacturer for the iPhone OLED display so it might a part of the order might go to renowned Chinese manufacturer BOE.
Back in April, Reuters first reported that Apple Watch will sport OLED displays from Japan Display but however, no specific model was disclosed at that time.
In the meanwhile, there is news that the next generation of Apple Watch, i.e. Series 6 which will be launched next year will be adopting a MicroLED display. This news was leaked by none other than Chinese language Economic Daily News which further reported that Apple is in talks with Taiwan based display manufacturers and the mass production of MicroLED is expected to begin early enough for the next year launch.
Finally, it can be noted that iHelp BR, the blog that revealed that Apple could unveil its iPhone 11 series on September 10 further revealed that Apple might release iOS 13 on 23rd September this year.
