Earlier today Samsung announced the Galaxy Watch Active 2 and to add up the competition Fossil has launched its latest Gen 5 smartwatch with tons of new features such as swim-proof speakers, fast charging technology and more. The smartwatch will be available in three colors – Black, Dark Brown, and Smoke.
Talking about the specs, the Fossil Gen 5 smartwatch is powered with Snapdragon Wear 3100 chipset coupled with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage. It sports a 1.3-inch screen with a 44mm stainless steel case with water-resistant up to 3ATM. The smartwatch runs Google WearOS and it supports Google Assistant.
The new Fossil Gen 5 smartwatch comes with improved heart-rate sensor, built-in GPS, activity tracker, NFC (Google Pay), Bluetooth 4.2, fast charging technology up to 80% charge in an hour and more. However, there are no ECG sensors like Galaxy Watch Active 2, rather Fossil Gen 5 can track the activities and signs of undiagnosed diabetes, sleep apnea, hypertension and atrial fibrillation using a pre-installed app called Cardiogram.
The built-in swimproof speakers seams to be the best key feature of Gen 5 smartwatch. The watch is compatible with both Android and iOS platforms. The company promises 1 day (24 hours) of battery life on a single charge (based on 4 different presets). In addition, the watch comes with lots of convenient straps that include leather, silicone and stainless steel.
The Fossil Gen 5 smartwatch is listed on Fossil official website with a price tag of￡279 (~ $295). However, we don’t have any official confirmation about the launch of Gen 5 smartwatch in India.
